Like Cypresses…

Although the world condemns our love
Together we shall stand tall
Born from the same breath of life
You and I have the same rights.

Our heart bound in timeless embrace
Even as death's wings cast their silent spell
And their judgement becomes blows
You and I shall ride the storm
For our love in God's memory dwells.

Within our union, we have found peace
A sacred space of love
Where heaven's winds in dance embrace
Love, a sea that ebbs and flows with grace.

Although they may try to shame us
And from our differences they wish not to partake
You and I shall hold on
We shall sing and dance joyous and free
We shall go on.
Yet cherish independence's melody.

Like violin strings vibrating in harmony's tune
Unified in melody we shall remain
Without care for their ignorance
For only life's touch can understand
What blind fools would like to forget
That we are here by God's decree.

They may try to mock and suffocate us
Like air we shall rise above their hatred
Love's foundation is purity
And that you and I share abounds.

Like cypresses we shall grow
Together...
United...
Love's essence is ours to know.

I believe, with quiet fervor, that one soul can shift the course of many. I write not from abstraction, but from the raw immediacy of lived experience and learned studies - from the labyrinth of my own challenges, triumphs, questions and awakenings. In offering the contours of my inner world, I hope to awaken in others a remembrance of their own power, their own unclaimed wholeness.
