Caressing is a profound act that transcends mere physical touch; it is a language of love that speaks directly to the body and soul. The human body craves connection, and through the gentle, deliberate act of caressing, we communicate tenderness, warmth and presence. The skin, as the largest organ of the body, holds and responds to the energy we transmit. When we caress with intention – filled with love and mindfulness – we create a space of healing that soothes not only the body but also the psyche. This act can release tension, calm anxiety, and foster a sense of safety and belonging. But it is not just about the physical motion; when caressing comes from the heart, with full consciousness, it becomes an energetic exchange. The hands become conduits for healing energy, transmitting the love and care we feel into the recipient’s being. In this way, caressing becomes a sacred practice, an intimate and conscious offering that has the power to nurture, restore and heal, both physically and emotionally. It is through this deep connection…heart to heart…that we can truly touch the essence of another and ourselves.
In Hindu mythology, the great mother named Adishakti is the wife of Shiva, the lord of Tantra, Yoga, and Dance. Whenever Shakti and Shiva reincarnate on earth as humans, their destiny is to marry once more. When Shakti becomes Shiva’s wife she then takes the name Parvati. As in any relationship, there is no guarantee that their relationship will not have ups and downs. Shakti will always encounter obstacles to receiving Shiva’s unconditional love.
One day when Shiva was still and resting, Shakti stroked his forehead and with all the patience in the world, she caressed every place on his body. Then he uttered this sentence:
“As I caress you, sweet prince enter into the caress as everlasting life.”
And with that, Shiva lost the fear of opening his heart.
Meditation with caresses:
1.- Ask your partner to lie naked on their back, in the position they prefer. Start caressing them very gently with your fingertips. Run over the face and all over the body slowly seeking pleasure through the skin. Do the movements very slowly so that your partner enters a meditative state, but without falling asleep. Put all your attention on the act, don’t think about anything other than transmitting your love to your partner through touch, and don’t allow any thoughts to distract you. You are not trying to sexually arouse your partner; you are trying to help them enter a space beyond time and space.
2.- Continue like this for 15 to 20 minutes. Go from the feet to the head. Do not touch the main erogenous zones, in particular the breasts or genitals. Never lose contact with your partner’s body. Follow your hands with your eyes. You will help your partner to be present by repeating from time to time this phrase that belongs to the Shiva Sutras: “while I caress you, sweet prince enters into the caress as enduring life”. Continue to be present in every moment and in every caress. In this moment of love there is no past or future, only enduring life.
3.- After the time has passed, sit quietly and give your partner time to recover. Reverse the roles, where the word prince will change to princess.
